Yes, that's officially a thing. I hope you're having a lovely Wednesday wherever you are. Not much to update with today - it's been a fairly banal week compared to the insanity that was last week. And, perhaps in that vein, I have chosen a beautiful song by The National for your aural pleasure. I absolutely adore this song - it was the first song of theirs I ever heard, and I was instantly taken with how sublime it is. It creeps into your soul in slow-motion. I hope you'll check it out! And I think Matt Berninger is one of the better lyricists in indie rock.
Green Gloves - The National
Falling out of touch with all my
friends are somewhere getting wasted,
hope they're staying glued together,
I have arms for them.
Take another sip of them,
it floats around and takes me over
like a little drop of ink in a glass of water
Get inside their clothes
with my green gloves
watch their videos, in their chairs.
Get inside their beds
with my green gloves
Get inside their heads, love their loves.
Cinderella through the room
I glide and swan cause I'm the best slow dancer
in the universe
Falling out of touch with all my
friends are somewhere getting wasted,
hope they're staying glued together,
I have arms for them.
Get inside their clothes
with my green gloves
watch their videos, in their chairs.
Get inside their beds
with my green gloves
Get inside their heads, love their loves.
Now I hardly know them
and I'll take my time
I'll carry them over, and I'll make them mine.
Get inside their clothes
with my green gloves
watch their videos, in their chairs.
Get inside their beds
with my green gloves
Get inside their heads, love their loves.
JD, congrats on starting your blog. You are both eloquent and informative in your song selection and description! I am incredibly impressed, albeit not surprised, at your foray into poetry writing. It seems a fitting match to your skills as a musician.
